Carter, Obama, and Liberal Stupidity

I’ll be honest with you: liberals are some of the most stupid people on the planet.  I’m serious when I say that.

One can then only conclude that Papa Doc Obama is one of THE most stupid presidents to occupy the White House.

Why?  Some of you may be incredulous by my assessment (and some liberals might even get a little miffed, perhaps even distracting them from their daily Christian-bashing).  I mean, after all, the guy has a Harvard degree, right?

(Here’s a hint: so did George Bush, and according to liberals he was the most stupid guy on the planet.)

Well, anyone with a brain knows that a good education dose not translate directly into intelligence.  Intelligence – true intelligence – comes from learning from lessons both past and present.  And that’s why liberals, and especially Papa Doc Obama, and notoriously stupid.  They never learn from past mistakes, they have the arrogance to believe that they can succeed where everyone has failed, and they honestly think that because they wish it, they can make up become down, turn black into white, and defy the laws of nature, physics, and man.

When they do succeed, the long-term result is violent revolution.

I can somewhat excuse the numskull Jimmy Carter for his ineptitude as president: much of what he tried had never been done before.  However, Carter is a brilliant example of what NOT to do to the nation’s economy.  It was Jimmy Carter that passed CAFE standards for cars.  This legislation had a direct impact on the downfall of companies like GM and Chrysler, and even continue to hamstring foreign automakers like Toyota, who are recognized as leaders in manufacturing fuel-efficient vehicles (a.k.a. foreign little death-boxes).  Likewise, it was Carter and a Democrat majority in Congress who gave us the CRA (Community Reinvestment Act) that was eventually used to cripple not only the housing industry, but the home mortgage industry, and nearly brought about the financial collapse of the nation.  It was via the CRA that scum-suckers like Barney Frank bullied banks into giving out loans to people who could not pay them back.  Even as I type, the same scum-suckers are again talking about bullying banks into giving out loans.  Don’t believe me?  Here’s something he said in September 2008:

I want [Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae] to help with affordable housing, to help low-income families get loans and to help clean up this subprime mess. Otherwise, why should they exist?

It was also Barney Frank who backed (and also co-sponsored) H. R. 1852 (2007) that provided “zero and lower down payments for borrowers that can afford mortgage payments, but lack the cash required for a down payment.”  It also more than doubled funding to counsel sub-prime home buyers and borrowers late on their mortgage payments.

And no one these days disputes that it was all of this sub-prime lending that essentially collapsed the whole house of cards.

Yet even as late as June of this year, Barney Frank was calling for more of what caused all of these problems in the first place:

Fannie, Freddie asked to relax condo loan rules: report

Reuters
June 22nd, 2009

Two U.S. Democratic lawmakers want Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to relax recently tightened standards for mortgages on new condominiums, saying they could threaten the viability of some developments and slow the housing-market recovery, the Wall Street Journal said.

In March, Fannie Mae (FNM.N)(FNM.P) said it would no longer guarantee mortgages on condos in buildings where fewer than 70 percent of the units have been sold, up from 51 percent, the paper said. Freddie Mac (FRE.P)(FRE.N) is due to implement similar policies next month, the paper said.

In a letter to the CEO’s of both companies, Representatives Barney Frank, the chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, and Anthony Weiner warned that a 70 percent sales threshold “may be too onerous” and could lead condo buyers to shun new developments, according to the paper.

The legislators asked the companies to “make appropriate adjustments” to their underwriting standards for condos, the paper added.

Yes.  If something caused massive problems in the past, the solution is to do more of what screwed everything up.

Brilliant.

And where is the Anointed One on reigning this idiocy in?  Nowhere to be found.  Kinda like Carter.

I sincerely hope that Barney Frank, and numerous other leaders in the Democrat party used this same philosophy in other aspects of their life.  Like, for example, if they get an unpleasant shock from touching a doorknob charged with static electricity.  Using such logic, they should throw themselves across  high-voltage power lines to avoid such problems in the future.

Well, at the very least it’ll cost the taxpayers less over the long haul.

The parallels between Jimmy Carter and Papa Doc Obama are actually quite striking, in that both of them are driven by an errant agenda that has been proven to be a monumental failure in the past.  It was Jimmy Carter who started us down the road to massive deficit spending (if you disagree, my suggestion is that you look up a few Time articles at the end of Carter’s presidency, as not even they could ignore it anymore), expanding government, and forcing “green” technologies down the throats of the American public under the laughable assertion that we need to conserve energy.  The result of these policies were higher prices, double-digit inflation, double-digit unemployment, a massive spike in gold prices (if you doubt me, look it up), business failures, a steep decline in military readiness (Carter increased government spending to virtually all areas of the government except the military), and an emasculated CIA.

And now what do we have with virtually the same policies being crammed down the throat of the American people under Papa Doc Obama?  Well, a rise in gold prices, rising energy prices (despite demand being lower), high unemployment (we’re within spitting distance of 10%), and profound fears of high inflation.

I won’t even bother to mention all of the laughable promises made by Papa Doc Obama about the effectiveness of “green” technologies like solar and wind power – pushed hard during the Carter Administration – that are actually costing us jobs and money.  They’re boondoggles.

Not to mention all of the NEW regulations being passed on the financial sector, many of which will not be enforced.  That’s because, if you look closely enough, prior regulations were not effectively enforced in the past.  That’s why a guy like Bernie Madoff managed to swindles something like $50 billion over the course of decades.

But now it is not just the financial industry, and the auto industry that Papa Doc Obama wants to regulate.  He now wants to control the entire health care sector, namely (and I use his own words at this point) to fix problems with Medicare and Medicaid…both of which are government programs.  Oh, ignore the fact that the general public actually likes their present health insurance.  Nope, to fix badly-run government programs, Papa Doc Obama has now decided to make ALL health insurance a badly-run government program!  In essence, he is going to regulate ALL health care in this country.

He won’t get between you and your doctor, but he WILL stipulate guidelines to your doctor as to how you will be treated (if the government allows you to be treated at all).

Papa Doc Obama doesn’t want to eliminate a private health insurance option, but make it illegal to purchase private health insurance after his new set of regulations go into effect.

I mean, if you simply ignore the fact that virtually every country (and US states, I might add) that implemented a government-run health care option in the past has turned into health and financial nightmare, then there is a real possibility that this could all work!  If you just simply ignore things like long waits to see your doctor, doctor scarcity, treatment rationing, scarcity of medications, and skyrocketing costs for substandard care it has a real chance of working.

I mean seriously: is this guy blind, or just plain dumb?  “Universal” health care has been a MAJOR FAILURE in virtually every country that has implemented it in the past.  The only reason why people in these countries cling to it is simply because they have never had anything better.  Ignorance often makes a sh*t sandwich taste like prime rib.

And the evidence is clear that previous half-steps to this type of government-run system are utter failures by Papa Doc’s own admission.  Medicare and Medicaid are failing.  One cannot say the same thing about Blue Cross Blue Shield, or any of the other private health insurers still out there: they work within human and market constraints.

Of course, Papa Doc Obama and his chadre of Che Guevara-wannabe Democrat-turned-communist allies are ignoring that virtually every other government program that has been implemented in the past is either failing, or costs far more than anyone ever expected.  Government and government spending is out of control, and not even the idiots in the major media outlets can ignore it any more.

Make no mistake, China isn’t picking up the debt from corporations and individual citizens.  Nope, countries like China are picking up the debt from insane government spending.  And Papa Doc Obama actually thinks that, for the first time since the founding of this country, that he is going to implement a NEW MASSIVE BUREAUCRACY, and save a lot of money in the process…as well as taxing fat people and soda pop.

Mind you, it was Democrats who were making most of the noise in the previous eight years of the Bush Administration about how badly the Veterans Administration – yet another government-run health care agency – sucked in taking care of our military men and women.

He’s either dumb, arrogant, or thinks we’re all stupid – you can take your pick.  Then again, the same can be said of Jimmy Carter.

But the Carter Administration is not only a good example of what NOT to do, they also have a couple of examples of how they unwittingly did something right.  Looking back, there were two specific incidents where the Carter did something that didn’t damage the country!

I know.  It’s hard to believe.

The first was deregulating the railroads.  Government, at one time, ran the railroads, and (as is typical of government regulated industries) the railroads were falling apart, and bankrupting the businesses that used them.  So, Jimmy Carter signed legislation to mostly deregulate the railroads.  The result?  Well, corporations eliminated their passenger lines – which were government mandated and HUGELY unprofitable – and switched to strictly hauling cargo.  This allowed rail companies to finally turn a profit, and even expand their business.  This single piece of deregulation literally saved the nation’s rail system from utter collapse.

Of course, the US government still runs AMTRAK, which is still hugely unprofitable, and unable to exist without subsidies.  Yet one more example of how government cannot run anything efficiently.

The second thing that Carter did?  He passed legislation allowing people to brew beer in their homes for personal use.  In short, Carter partially deregulated the brewing industry.  This literally opened the door to the microbrewery explosion of the 1990s, and early 2000s.  Beer brands such as Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, Pete’s Wicked Ale, and Sam Adams can literally trace their origins to this one piece of legislation for their existence.  All of these companies literally started in the basements of people who loved to brew beer, were allowed to brew beer, and had the entrepreneurial inclination to turn their brewing skills into a profitable business.

So, here we have two GLARING examples of how deregulation, not more government regulation, saved industries, expanded this nation’s GDP, and created new jobs.  Both of them under a Democrat president, and a Democrat-controlled Congress.

I won’t even bother to highlight how tax cuts implemented by Kennedy, Reagan, and Bush 43 that turned around economic declines in the past.  I mean, at this point, the evidence is undisputed.  Yet Papa Doc Obama and his new Revolutionary Guard continues to look for new ways to tax consumers and businesses alike.

Let’s face it: Obama and his Democrat cronies are a bunch of slack-jawed morons.  They think they can somehow try to resurrect the glorious Soviet Union without having to face the inevitable toxic byproduct that destroyed that dismal error of human history.  For a guy so well-read, and so highly educated, you’d think he’d know better.

I guess that’s why the teleprompter is the brains of that outfit.
